What documents are required to obtain the Cuba tourist card?
Requesting the Cuban tourist card is ideally done before departure. If you wish to make the request personally, you can send a letter to the embassy or consulate. To make this request in this representation, you need:
- a photocopy of the first four pages of the passport and the return plane ticket,
- a check certified by your bank in the name of the Cuban Consulate,
- a certificate ofinsurance medical (including medical expenses, etc.),
- a stamped envelope for return.
When you obtain your Cuba tourist card, you will be asked to fill in certain information by hand. This is the first and last name indicated on your passport, the date of birth. You will also need to indicate your nationality and passport registration number. The Cuban consulate in Paris receives applications on working days from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Online request from an approved agency
It is possible to apply online to obtain the card. For this option, you will just need to fill out the request form. After validation, your Cuba tourist card will be sent to you by tracked mail. You will be asked to answer questions related to your nationality, your date of birth and the registration number of your passport.
The price of obtaining the tourism card is often estimated according to the exchange rate. At a price of 49,00 € per person, this amount includes consular fees, application fees, shipping costs, VAT and transaction fees. It is payable by credit card only.
How to renew your Cuba tourist card?
As a reminder, the card is recommended for tourist stays. For business trips, they require the application for a visa in your passport.
The card renewal process is the same as applying. It can be carried out on Cuban territory and more precisely in the hotel tourism office. This allows you to extend your stay, if necessary.
On the other hand, with your title of national of a European country, the tourist card is the only document giving access to Cuban territory for tourist visits.
This document is issued for single use within six months of its issue. It can be used for a maximum period of 90 days on site in Cuba. Applying through an agency is convenient. This would save you from spending half your day waiting. It's also much safer. Many travel agencies and intermediaries offer services like this. However, you will have to be careful of scams.
